W455H & W555H Door leaking even after new door seal fitted.
If you have either of these washing machines and you come across a fault of the door leaking, and even though you have fitted a new door seal not long ago you don’t seem to be able to stop the leak. We have found on several machines that the door hinges are worn and loose. This it would appear is the problem of the door constantly leaking, as it allows the door to fit more loosely which means the door seal has less pressure on the front drum edge. The way to check for this is to open the door to a 30 to 45 degree angle from the front of the machine and lift the door up and down gently. There shouldn’t be any movement on the hinges at all. If there is, then the hinges are worn. Unfortunately Electrolux don’t do the hinge as a spare part. So the only remedy is to replace the door complete. Part number 472990496. Although this seems expensive, please remember the door is complete with new door catch, door glass, door seal, hinges, door handle etc. Compared to replacing the machine to repair the leak it is fairly cost effective.
